INTERNATIONAL LMET CONFERENCE October 2021 THE MODELLING OF ENERGY TRANSITION. 04/10/2021 - 06/10/2021 presenting Exhibition by Tobias Becker The conference is accompanied by an exhibition in which models and modelling processes from scientific fields (such as energy technology) are juxtaposed with the visual arts in the form of model-aesthetic works by Tobias Becker. The differences of the models, not only in their origin but also in intention and appearance, invite a reflection on the constituting moments that are hidden behind the respective expressions. While the scientific model is committed to the greatest possible closeness to reality and usability, the artistic model formulates itself freely and operates in self-reflexive and media-reflexive modes that can play out the possibilities and limits of model-like languages. Compiled with attention to essential procedures and modes in model formation, the exhibition provides insight into this difficult practice from two perspectives and thus functions as an aesthetic counterpart to the model critique formulated in the context of the conference.
